Filed Under (My Implant/Bridge) by Tony Stai on 02-27-2009
Well, after thinking long and hard about this, I’m going to have a new bridge made. Throwing away the 25 year old Maryland bridge and going with a 4 tooth bridge across teeth 7-10. A couple of things led me away from the implant to this decision of a new bridge. The first being that the other front tooth (real one) is showing signs of stress with a hairline fracture. The second is that tooth 7 has something going on where it is dying. How do I know this? Well, we decided to whiten my teeth prior to the bridge. That tooth is not doing very well in the whitening and it actually looks a little worse now that the other teeth are white. So, this coming Monday, I have a 2.5 hour appointment to grind down 3 teeth and will have a 4 tooth bridge installed about a week later. Of course a temporary bridge will be installed in the meantime. Cost? About $3500. In the long run, it will be cheaper than the implant which was going to be about $3000 and any additionaly work that would have had to be done on the other two teeth listed above. I’ll write another post after Monday to update how it went. Post a comment
